The Family Services Department is committed to providing hospitality and information to the families of Special Olympics athletes attending the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games. There are several programs and activities planned for families during the Games, and with family members expected from over 100 countries, we hope you will be among them!
Please note that the deadline to register online as a family member for the World Winter Games is 30 November 2008.
Who Can Register through Family Services?
The first priority of the Family Services Department is to provide service to family members of athletes competing in the World Winter Games. The following parties are considered eligible to register as family members for the World Winter Games:
• Husbands, wives and children of athletes
• Blood relatives of athletes mother, father, sister, brother, grandparent, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew etc.
(This includes family members related by marriage)
• Athlete’s legal guardian or foster parent
• Individuals involved with athletes in a parenting role
There is no formal registration for non‐family members or friends who will attend the World Winter Games as a general spectator. Please note these individuals will not be included in any family‐specific activities, and will not be eligible for family tickets to Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
