
Transport & Parking
Games Transport & Parking involves the delivery of the following three (3) components:
Games Bus Systems
This area will constitute about 40% of the transport services provided at the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games, and will involve the use of paid, professional drivers. Two (2) kinds of Games Bus Systems services will be provided to official clients of the World Winter Games:
- Shuttle Service – Regularly scheduled service, connecting two or more official World Winter Games venues, where use of the vehicle is open to all official clients.
- Charter Service – Customized service, generally connecting two points, where use of the vehicle is assigned and dedicated to a specific official group of clients.
It is projected that approximately 135 Games Bus System buses will be used at peak during the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games.
Games Motor Pool
This area will constitute about 40% of the transport services provided at the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games, and will involve the use of volunteer drivers. Three (3) kinds of services will be provided to official clients of the World Winter Games:
- T-1 Service – A dedicated, assigned vehicle for one (1) pre-identified passenger.
- T-2 Service – A dedicated, assigned vehicle, shared by two (2) pre-identified passengers.
- T-3 Service – Scheduled and on-demand shared access to a fleet of vehicles by as many as six (6) pre-identified passengers.
It is projected that 100 to 125 Games Motor Pool vehicles will be used at peak during the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games.
Venue Transport & Parking
This area constitutes about 20% of the transport services provided at the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games, using paid and volunteer expertise. Five (5) kinds of services will be provided at the official competition venues of the World Winter Games:
- Ingress/Egress Routes – Venue Transport & Parking will identify and manage the in/out routes for all vehicles requiring access to the venue.
- Access Points – Venue Transport & Parking will identify and manage the entry/exit points used by all official clients at the venue.
- Load Zones – Venue Transport & Parking will identify and manage the sites used for the loading/unloading of all official clients, at the venue.
- Staging Areas – Venue Transport & Parking will identify and manage the sites used for short-term vehicle staging for all official vehicles at the venue.
- Parking Areas – Venue Transport & Parking will identify and manage the sites used for vehicle parking, for all clients at the venue.
The key deliverable of the Venue Transport & Parking area is the management of the arrival, processing and departure of all official vehicles from the World Winter Games Bus Systems and Games Motor Pool areas.
